چکیده

This paper discusses the need for joint link level and system level simulations for thirdgeneration mobile radio systems and points out a way of implementing them in SDL. The simulation of third-generation mobile radio interfaces is a particular challenge to computational power. Complex systems are needed to support the demands of ATM services and high data of rates up to 2 Mbit/s in the UMTS band. The physical influences of mobile radio channels on protocols have to be considered within the system level simulation for mobile radio systems, since channel allocation and handover protocols need physical parameters. One application of our simulation tool is the examination of a new approach for a advanced handover protocol. This handover protocol uses the direction of arrival estimation of adaptive antennas in combination with other mobile movement prediction methods to reserve capacity in the next predicted radio cell to reduce blocking rates and signalling.

SDL-based modelling and design of IN/UMTS handover functionality

In this paper a handover functional model and corresponding functionality description in SDL for the IN/UMTS concept for third generation mobile systems protocol development is presented. The model is based on ETSI NA-61301 [1] handover functional model. The main focus is on the introduction and specification of necessary Functional Entities for control and execution of the switching function f...

Automatic Functional Verification of OPNET Models with SDL-OPNET Co-Simulation

Owing to the model-driven development (MDD) technology, reliable network protocols could be developed with an integrated and systematic way. As performance, another core metric for evaluation of network protocols, is usually not the target of MDD process, how to connect performance evaluation to the MDD process is an important issue. This paper presents a method to enhance the reliability of pe...

Co-Modeling of Embedded Networks Using SystemC and SDL

Today, SDL and SystemC are two very popular languages for embedded systems modeling. SDL has specific advanced features that make it good for reflection of the multi-object systems and interactions between modules. It is also good for system model validation. The SystemC models are better suitable for tracing internal functions of the modeled modules. The hypothetical possibility of combined us...
